Located less than 200 km east of Addis Ababa, Awash National Park spans 750 square kilometers of grassland savanna. Dominated by the dormant Fantelle Volcano and carved by the mighty Awash River, it offers a stunning introduction to Ethiopia's Rift Valley wildlife.

Awash Falls & Gorge

The river plunges into a deep, spectacular gorge creating a massive waterfall. A riverine forest surrounds the site, providing a cool sanctuary for vervet monkeys and diverse birdlife.

Filwuha Hot Springs
The Oasis

Filwuha Hot Springs

Surrounded by doum palms, these springs create a literal oasis in the savanna. The water is invitingly warm, and visitors are welcome to take a quick, therapeutic dip in the natural pools.

Wildlife Encounter

While predator sightings (lions, cheetahs, leopards) are rare, the park is a stronghold for the Beisa Oryx, Soemmering’s Gazelle, and the tiny Salt’s Dik-dik. You'll also frequently spot Greater Kudu and Warthogs across the plains.

A prime destination for birders, featuring several endemic and near-endemic species across diverse habitats.

Awash Falls Lodge

Located directly inside the park near the water's edge. Camping is also available for a more immersive experience.

Bilen Lodge

Situated outside the park on the road to the Danakil Depression. Excellent for prime game viewing in the surrounding buffer zones.
